What are Respiratory Protective Devices (RPD) Special Applications?

Respiratory Protective Devices (RPD) for special applications are classified by the unique hazards in which they are used and for which additional performance requirements have been defined e.g. additional resistance to heat and flame for RPD intended for use in firefighting. Minimum Protection class (PC) and Work rate class (W) are set in accordance with the relevant performance standards which are required to be met in order to be classified for the special application.

— Escape.
